I Need a Man Like You to Make My Dreams Come True is an interesting blend of satire and musical comedy from '86. The film has this offbeat vibe, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The performances by Sheila Costick and Helen Porter add this quirky performance art angle, which keeps things lively. And then you have The Clichettes, whose musical interludes are both amusing and a little absurd, really poking fun at gender norms. The pacing can be a bit uneven, which I think adds to its charm. It’s got that DIY feel, almost like a collage of ideas rather than a linear story. It’s definitely distinctive, and you can tell they had fun with it.
