Identity is an interesting blend of psychological thriller and mystery. The isolated motel setting really amps up the tension, especially with that storm raging outside. You can feel the paranoia seep in as the characters start to unravel. There's a solid use of practical effects that adds to the realism, which is always refreshing in the genre. John Cusack and Ray Liotta deliver some strong performances, but it's the ensemble cast that really makes the dynamics intriguing. The slow burn of the plot keeps you guessing, and the final twist is worth noting β it either lands for you or feels a bit too much, depending on your taste. Itβs got a gritty, claustrophobic atmosphere that plays well with its themes of identity and morality.
