So, this film, 'If the Sun Drowned Into an Ocean of Clouds,' takes us to Beirut's gritty waterfront, where this security guy, Raed, is stuck in a monotonous routine of keeping people away from the construction site. The atmosphere is heavy, almost stifling, mirroring the encroaching build that cuts off the sea. You can really feel the weight of his isolation as he meets these strange figures—are they real, or just reflections of his hidden yearnings? The pacing is deliberately slow, allowing all those existential musings to sink in. I found the practical effects to be quite minimalist, yet they work perfectly with the narrative's dreamlike quality. The performances, especially that of Raed, are raw and haunting. Definitely something to ponder over.
