Ignition is a quirky little comedy that plays with the absurdity of a late-night theft. Jake’s 1970 Volkswagen Kombi, Betsy, gets stolen, and the chase that unfolds has this loose, chaotic energy that gives it a unique vibe. The characters are thrown into this wild caper around Brisbane, and the fact that Jake is only in his underwear adds a layer of ridiculousness that you don’t see often. The pacing is pretty frenetic, but it works well with the comedic tone. You can feel the camaraderie between Jake and Ben, which adds a nice touch. It’s not trying to be anything grand, just a fun ride with some laughs, nudity, and the occasional drug reference, all while keeping things fairly grounded in its own eccentric way.
