In the Train (1981) is a curious blend of comedy and drama, unfolding entirely within the confines of a train. Director Ramiz Hasanoghlu crafts a microcosm of society where the atmosphere is thick with tension and humor. The pacing ebbs and flows, capturing the often absurd interactions among passengers, each with their own quirks. Mr. Dadashov, a pivotal character, garners respect from some but remains an enigma throughout. The film plays with themes of identity and perception, as passengers' assumptions about Dadashov reveal more about themselves than him. The performances are lively, with each actor bringing their own brand of eccentricity to the table, making it feel very much like a slice of life, albeit one full of charm and intrigue.
