Inertia (2017) is this atmospheric sci-fi piece that really plays with isolation and communication barriers. You’ve got these five prisoners, each trapped in a room, and they can’t even talk to each other since they all speak different languages. It’s a tense setup right from the start. The stone altar in the middle is just haunting, like some ancient demand for sacrifice lurking in the backdrop. The pacing can feel slow, but it builds this dreadful sense of inevitability as the body count rises. The practical effects are quite striking for a small film, which adds to the unsettling atmosphere. Performances are raw and effective, really drawing you into the madness of their situation. It’s not your standard fare, that’s for sure.
Focus on language barriers and isolation. The altar serves as a central symbol.Look for strong practical effects.
