So, 'Intelligent Life' is a curious little piece from 2012. The whole thing plays out in this tight, claustrophobic space, which really adds to the tension. You’ve got this Colonel tasked with figuring out what to make of this extraterrestrial. The pacing shifts between suspenseful interrogation scenes and these tense moments where the Colonel's ethical lines get blurred. It’s got a tone that feels heavy, almost oppressive at times, but in a good way. The performances aren't over the top, which adds to the realism. There’s a distinct use of practical effects that heightens the atmosphere, making it feel grounded despite the sci-fi premise. Not your average alien flick, that's for sure.
