Intermezzo - Glyndebourne is quite a fascinating piece, really. It's Richard Strauss' autobiographical take on marital woes, presented in a rather unique style. The setting in the 1920s is captured beautifully through Martin Batters' art nouveau designs, which add that visual flair without overshadowing the narrative. Felicity Lott's portrayal of Christine Storch is something else - she brings such a fiery essence to the character. The pacing feels just right, weaving through the fourteen scenes with a nice flow, keeping one invested in the comedic yet poignant moments of domestic life. There's a certain charm in how the music and visuals come together, making it stand out in the realm of opera adaptations.
