Into the Blue (2018) throws you into a post-apocalyptic world, August 2029, where humanity is barely hanging on after the Datara invasion. It’s gritty and dark, the ruins of cities creating this haunting atmosphere that lingers. Most of the population is gone, leaving a small group to scavenge in the mountains, constantly on edge because the Datara are always out there, lurking. Pacing is a bit uneven at times—there are moments that drag, but they really serve to build that palpable tension. The practical effects are decent, giving a raw feel to the encounters with the aliens, while the performances create a sense of desperation and hope intertwined. It’s not your typical sci-fi; it’s more about survival and what it means to cling to life amid chaos.
