Invisible Lines is quite the heavy watch. It deals with the grim reality of an honour killing, showing the stark and sad truth of a gay man's life cut short by familial expectations. The writing, while trying to tackle these intense themes, feels a bit flat and unengaging, which is a stark contrast to the weight of its subject matter. The pacing drags in parts, and the direction doesn’t elevate the script much. It’s a raw look at societal pressures but lacks finesse. Performances, however, do carry a certain emotional weight, which gives it a bit of depth amidst the dull presentation. It’s a film that leaves you feeling a bit hollow.
