It's Look Sunshine is quite a somber exploration of loss and personal growth. Young-Eun, the protagonist, is deeply affected by her mother’s tragic drowning, which is shot with a rawness that really hits home. The eco-friendly photography aspect adds an intriguing layer, presenting an almost contradictory beauty against the backdrop of grief. The pacing is deliberate, allowing us to sit with Young-Eun's emotions, which some might find slow, but I think it builds a necessary tension. The performances feel authentic, particularly in their portrayal of a strained but loving mother-daughter relationship. It’s distinctive in how it intertwines environmental themes with personal trauma, capturing a sense of longing and resilience in the face of despair. Definitely a film that lingers with you.
