So, 'Ittsu: THE MOVIE' is a curious piece, really. It's the opening act of a two-part adaptation from Kazuto Okada, who’s known for his quirky, youthful stories. The film captures a slice of junior high life, complete with that awkwardness of impending exams and the fluttering of first crushes. Misaki Soejima, as the lead, brings a certain charm that’s hard to ignore. The pacing has a laid-back feel, letting the characters breathe and develop amidst comedic moments. There’s an interesting blend of practical effects, although they’re not groundbreaking, they add a quaint touch to the overall atmosphere. It’s got that youthful energy that resonates with anyone who’s navigated those tumultuous teenage years.
