Jellyfish Restaurant is a curious blend of animation and drama, exploring themes of memory and loss in a rather surreal way. The protagonist, Yōtarō Misaki, finds himself washed ashore, and through his encounter with Arashi, the restaurant manager, we dive into this atmospheric tale. The pacing can feel slow at times, allowing you to really soak in the beautifully rendered underwater visuals and the emotional weight of Yōtarō's backstory. It’s evocative, if a bit heavy, as lies and truth intertwine in his struggles with his twin brother’s death. The animation style is distinct, lending itself well to the dreamlike quality of the narrative, and the performances, even in animated form, carry a real sense of depth.
