Jengo Hooper is one of those strange little gems that somehow slipped under the radar in 2013. The film has this gritty, unsettling atmosphere that just creeps up on you. Jake Weaver's descent into madness is compelling; you really feel the slow rot of his mind as that demonic entity takes hold. The pacing is kind of uneven at times, but it adds to that feeling of disorientation. Practical effects are used effectively, adding to the horror without relying on CGI, which I appreciate. The whole possession angle is explored in a pretty unique way, pushing the boundaries of typical possession tropes. You don’t often see this kind of blend of action and horror, and it gives the movie a distinct flavor.
Contains strong practical effects that enhance the horror.Focuses on the psychological aspect of possession rather than just jump scares. The pacing might feel off, but it contributes to the overall disorienting experience.
