So, Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost is one of those films that really dives into the murkiness of small-town life. You’ve got Jesse, played by Tom Selleck, trying to get to the bottom of a young friend’s death, which is, let’s be honest, a pretty heavy premise. The pacing is deliberate, giving you time to soak in the atmosphere of that town, which is a character in its own right. The tension ramps up with the new police chief, who’s got this arrogant edge, thanks to family connections. It really highlights themes of authority and integrity, you know? The performances are solid, especially Selleck, who embodies this worn-out but determined detective. It feels grounded, not flashy, which I kind of appreciate. Overall, it’s a gripping watch without all the usual bells and whistles.
