‘Jewish Britain on Film’ offers a fascinating tapestry of Jewish life in Britain through the lens of archival footage. Isy Suttie's narration adds a personal touch, guiding viewers through diverse slices of history. You get a sense of the everyday, almost tactile, with scenes from an Edwardian Petticoat Lane and a 1925 wedding in the East End that really transport you. The film doesn’t shy away from heavier themes, either, like the resistance against the British Union of Fascists at Cable Street. There's also a curious segment on early surfing in Britain, which is not something you’d expect in this context. The pacing can feel a bit uneven at times, but it really gives you room to soak in the atmosphere and reflect on the rich cultural tapestries presented.
