So, Jinx'd is a really interesting piece from 2000. You’ve got this down-on-his-luck AM radio comedian, Ryan Lawson, whose life takes a wild turn thanks to a comedy gig gone awry. The film has a certain roughness to it, blending crude humor with a biting satire on race and identity. The pacing has its bumps, but it keeps you engaged, especially with Ryan's outrageous hip-hop comedy. The atmosphere is charged, especially during his performance for a group that’s as misguided as it gets. It’s a mix of discomfort and hilarity, and you can’t help but appreciate the boldness of the themes tackled, even if they don’t always land perfectly. Worth a look for its audacity, for sure.
