So, 'Joe Somebody' is kind of this overlooked gem from the early 2000s. Directed by John Pasquin, it nails that quirky mix of comedy and drama, with a bit of warmth thrown in for good measure. Tim Allen plays Joe, a relatable everyman who’s just trying to stand up for himself after being humiliated at work. The pacing feels breezy, yet it doesn’t shy away from the more serious themes of self-worth and redemption. Some of the martial arts training scenes have a nice dose of comedy, and it’s fun to see Joe Schmoe transform with the help of a washed-up action star. The supporting cast, including Julie Bowen and Jim Belushi, really adds depth to the dynamic. Totally worth a rewatch for fans of character-driven stories.
