So, Jolly Fellows, or Merry Fellows as it's sometimes called, is really interesting. Directed by Grigori Aleksandrov, it's the first Soviet musical comedy, and you can really feel the energy of 1930s Odessa and Moscow in it. The vibe is light and playful, with Kostya Potekhin, played by Utyosov, getting caught up in this amusing mix-up where he's seen as a concert star. The music numbers are pretty entertaining and well-timed, blending comedy and song seamlessly. What stands out is how it captures a certain innocence and romantic charm, especially in Kostya's pursuit of Anyuta. The performances have a lively authenticity that draws you in, making it a fascinating piece of Soviet cinema history.
