Karate Warrior is a curious slice of 80s action cinema. You’ve got Anthony, a young guy caught in the web of local crime while visiting his dad in the Philippines. The film's pacing is quite uneven, but that adds to its charm. The way Anthony stumbles into trouble with Quino, the local gangster and karate champ, sets up this almost boyish journey of growth. After a brutal beating, the old monk subplot brings in that classic mentor-mentee dynamic, adding a layer of depth. The fight choreography has that raw, practical feel—definitely not polished but there's an earnestness to it. While not groundbreaking, it’s got a certain vibe that makes it worth checking out.
