Karma is one of those films that kind of sneaks up on you with its narrative twists. The story revolves around Theresa and her less-than-reputable lawyer plotting to take down her husband, Dominic. The atmosphere carries a kind of dark humor, especially as things unravel. I mean, the pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it does add an interesting flair to the characters’ desperation. The performances are solid enough, particularly when Dominic teams up with Janelle, his ex-wife's accomplice. Their chemistry really pulls the plot together as they steer the film into unexpected territory, making it stand out amidst similar themes of revenge and betrayal.
Karma has had a somewhat limited release, which has made it relatively scarce in collector circles. Its DVD and streaming options are not as widely available, causing the film to attract a niche audience interested in lesser-known narratives. There’s definitely a layer of intrigue for collectors who appreciate films that explore morally ambiguous themes, and it does pique interest for those digging into 2010s independent cinema.
