Killer (1996) is this raw, Italian SOV horror short that really leans into the grimy aesthetic of the genre. The atmosphere is thick with dread, and you can almost feel the weight of the low-budget production. The pacing is interesting too—sometimes it drags a bit, but it adds to that unsettling feeling. It has practical effects that are pretty gritty, capturing that visceral quality that seems to be lost in a lot of modern horror. The performances, while not always polished, carry a certain urgency that fits the chaotic vibe. It’s one of those films that, for better or worse, sticks with you, and its distinct style is a testament to the underground scene it emerged from.
