Kinetta has this unique vibe that really gets under your skin. Set in an empty Greek hotel during the off-season, you feel the stillness and isolation as you follow the lives of a chambermaid, a BMW-obsessed guy, and a photo-store clerk. They engage in these odd reenactments of strained man-woman dynamics, which feels both awkward and oddly compelling. The pacing is deliberately slow, giving you time to really soak in the atmosphere. It’s all about the characters and their peculiar relationships with each other and their environment. The performances are understated but pack a punch, and there’s something about the way they use practical effects that keeps it grounded. It’s definitely not for everyone, but there’s a raw honesty to it that I appreciate.
