King Ralph is one of those quirky comedies that really leans into the absurdity of its premise. John Goodman as Ralph is a bit of a rough-around-the-edges American who unexpectedly finds himself in the British royal family. The humor is pretty broad, but it has this nice charm, especially with Goodman's performance—he really brings a lot of warmth to the role. The pacing can feel a bit uneven at times, but it captures that classic fish-out-of-water vibe nicely. The practical effects used in some of the comedic moments are a nice touch, and the film does a good job contrasting American brashness with British decorum. It's not groundbreaking, but there’s something kind of fun about it, especially if you enjoy that blend of cultures.
