So, 'Kiss Him, Not Me' is this quirky little comedy that dives into high school life through Kae, a girl who's really into fujoshi culture. It's an interesting twist on body image and popularity; Kae starts off as this larger girl who loves her manga but, after a health scare, she sheds some weight and suddenly the boys are all over her. The pace has its ebbs and flows, with those awkward teen moments balanced by some genuine humor. The performances are pretty engaging, especially Kae's struggle between her love for otaku culture and the social pressures at school. It has a light-hearted atmosphere but touches on some deeper themes of identity and self-acceptance that I found intriguing. Definitely a unique take on romantic comedy tropes.
