Kull the Conqueror is quite the interesting piece from '97, directed by John Nicolella. It follows the titular character, a barbarian who takes the throne after a battle, which sets off a chain of events involving the resurrection of Akivasha, a witch queen with her own ambitions. The film channels that classic sword and sorcery vibe with some solid practical effects that capture the gritty atmosphere well. The pacing might feel a bit uneven at times, but it has its moments of charm. Kevin Sorbo's performance as Kull brings a certain rugged charisma, though you can feel the weight of the story trying to juggle themes of power and destiny. It’s definitely distinctive in its approach to the genre, and I always find something new with each rewatch.
