Kung Fu Zombie is this wild mashup of action, comedy, and horror that really embodies the playful spirit of 80s Hong Kong cinema. Directed by Hua Shan, it’s got this strange blend of slapstick humor mixed with serious martial arts, which is pretty unique. The pacing is all over the place, but that just adds to its charm. You’ve got a criminal sending zombies after our protagonist, Billy Chong, and it’s as bizarre as it sounds. The practical effects are delightfully cheesy, with those classic zombie looks that only a film of this era could pull off. Plus, the performances are over-the-top in the best way possible, especially from the Taoist wizard. It’s just fun, chaotic, and definitely one to chat about among collectors.
