La bandera is an interesting mix of comedy and drama, directed by Hugo Martín Cuervo. The film dives into family dynamics, as Tomás, alongside his biographer Lina, brings his two sons, Jesús and Antonio, into a rather tense inheritance race. The whole setup is quite relatable, with that underlying tension we often see in families. The large flag in the garden, which seems innocuous at first, becomes this pivot point for conflict—it's clever and a bit absurd, really. The pacing has moments of quick wit that contrast nicely with more serious, reflective scenes. The performances, especially from the leads, feel genuine and layered, making you ponder the nature of family legacies and rivalries without getting too heavy-handed.
Family dynamics are central to the plot. The use of a flag as a plot device is quite unique.Performances are nuanced and engaging.
