La Scala Ballet's 2006 revival of La Bayadère is quite a spectacle, really. Directed by Tina Protasoni, it's a fresh take on Makarova's earlier work from '92, captured beautifully at Teatro alla Scala. The ambiance is rich, almost transporting you to a different world with its elaborate sets and haunting music. Svetlana Zakharova and Roberto Bolle shine on stage, their performances intertwining grace with raw emotion. The pacing has a dreamlike quality, fitting the themes of love and betrayal, enhanced by stunning choreography. It's not just a ballet; it's a full experience. The practical effects add layers to the storytelling, making it distinctive in its execution, but it's really the chemistry between the leads that keeps you engaged throughout.
Enjoyable for ballet enthusiasts.Great choreography and performance synergy.Beautifully staged with an atmospheric setting.
