Lady in the Lake is an interesting dive into film noir, especially with Robert Montgomery at the helm, not just directing but also playing the lead. The whole thing is shot in a first-person perspective, which is kind of a gamble for the time. It gives you this unique sense of immediacy, but also makes it a bit claustrophobic. The pacing is quite deliberate, building tension without rushing into the action. And the atmosphere? It’s drenched in shadows and smoke, really embodying that classic noir feel. Performances are solid, with Montgomery bringing a weary charm to Marlowe. Of course, the plot twists keep you guessing, though it can feel a bit convoluted at times. Still, it’s a distinctive take on the genre.
