Lamiai is an intriguing blend of Super 8mm film and digital video that gives it this grainy, dreamlike quality. It's definitely experimental, almost like you're drifting through a half-remembered dream. The film pulls from Greek mythology, especially the figure of the Lamia, which adds a haunting layer to it. You can feel the influence of Keats's poetry and Gabriel’s music, creating something that feels both ancient and very contemporary in its exploration of desire and loss. The pacing is deliberately slow, allowing you to soak in the visuals and the atmosphere. There are some really interesting practical effects that enhance its surreal nature; it’s not your typical fantasy fare, that’s for sure. Really distinct in its approach, it sticks with you long after viewing.
