Last Getaway is one of those indie horror flicks that kind of sneaks up on you. Set in the woods, it captures that eerie vibe of isolation, especially with a group of friends who aren't exactly seasoned campers. The pacing has this nice build-up, where the tension gradually creeps in, and when it hits, it’s pretty effective. Practical effects are used, which is a breath of fresh air in a genre that leans on CGI too often. The performances aren't flawless, but they have that authentic feel you don't see in big-budget productions. Themes of trust and survival are woven in well, making it not just about the scares, but also about relationships strained under pressure. Definitely has its quirks but holds its own in the found-footage subgenre.
Indie horror with a unique take on survival.Strong use of practical effects.Interesting take on friendship under strain.
