Leap of Faith is an interesting blend of comedy, drama, and a touch of romance, directed by Richard Pearce. Steve Martin plays Jonas Nightengale, a rather dubious faith healer, which gives the film a charmingly cynical edge. The pacing has this nice ebb-and-flow; it builds up during the revival scenes but then takes a quieter, reflective turn as Jonas faces his own moral dilemmas. The performances, especially by Martin and Debra Winger as his manager Jane, have a genuine chemistry that holds the film together.
