The pacing might feel off to some, but I think it adds to the disorientation that the protagonist experiences. The practical effects are interesting; they really accentuate her emotional turmoil. It’s not your typical animated fare, and that’s what sets it apart. It leaves you thinking about the nature of reality and perception long after it’s over.
