Les Girls is an interesting blend of comedy, music, and romance, with George Cukor at the helm. The film utilizes a Rashômon-style narrative, which is a bit of a twist for a musical. Each character tells their version of events, and it creates this layered texture that really draws you in. I find the pacing to be quite engaging, never feeling rushed, but always keeping your interest. The performances, especially by Mitzi Gaynor and Gene Kelly, are lively and charming, adding to the overall atmosphere of the film. The choreography and musical numbers are well-executed, using practical effects effectively for the time, which gives it an authenticity that’s hard to replicate. It's a unique take on the rivalry and showbiz, definitely stands out in Cukor's filmography.
