Lethal Weapon 4 really leans into the buddy cop dynamic we’ve come to love. The chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is still strong, even as their characters grapple with personal issues. Richard Donner manages to balance the action with moments of genuine humor and heartfelt reflection, which keeps the tone engaging. The pacing is solid, with a mix of intense action sequences and lighter comedic interludes. The practical effects are a standout, especially in the fight choreography, which feels visceral and well-crafted. There’s also this interesting thematic exploration of family and aging, which adds a layer of depth that you might not expect in a film like this. Plus, the addition of Chris Rock adds a fresh dynamic to the established duo.
