Life Is Sweet, directed by Mike Leigh, is such an intimate glimpse into the everyday lives of a quirky, working-class family. You’ve got Wendy, the pragmatic mother, balancing her shop work with the chaos of home life. Andy, the laid-back cook, always putting off that home renovation. And the twins, Natalie and Nicola, navigating their own paths, one plumbing and the other... well, still figuring it out. The film’s pretty raw at times, capturing the family’s ups and downs with a mix of humor and melancholy. The pacing is leisurely, allowing moments to breathe, and the performances feel so genuine. Leigh’s knack for realism shines through, making you feel like you're just eavesdropping on life as it is, imperfections and all.
