Lifeform (2019) has this gritty, unsettling vibe that really sets it apart in the horror-sci-fi genre. It tackles themes of love and loss, but through a very twisted lens. The practical effects for the creature are pretty striking, giving it a real tactile presence that CGI just can't replicate. Hadrian Beckett’s desperation to save his wife injects a tense emotional current into the film, and you can feel the weight of his decisions. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the atmosphere to build slowly, which makes the more intense moments hit harder. The shapes Samantha takes on are eerie and unsettling, almost reflecting Hadrian’s internal struggle. It's definitely not your typical monster movie, that's for sure.
