Like the Midnight Dewdrop has this gritty, almost noirish vibe, you know? The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it captures that tension beautifully, especially when our protagonist gets tangled up with his old friend, the smuggler. The action sequences, while not overly flashy, have a raw authenticity that feels grounded—kind of a product of its time. The performances are solid, even if the direction feels a bit loose. There’s a certain charm in its imperfections, and the whole thing has this unique atmosphere that sticks with you after it’s over.
This film has a bit of a cult following, though finding a decent print can be challenging. It was released on VHS in the late 80s, but I’ve rarely seen it pop up in collector circles since then. If you come across an original copy, it’s worth snagging, as interest has been growing slowly over the years among genre enthusiasts.
