Longpig is one of those quirky gems that kind of throws you for a loop. It's a mix of comedy and horror that plays with the absurdity of suburban life. Briana's awkward attempts to enjoy this barbecue party while sensing something's off really sets the tone. The pacing is deliberately uncomfortable, building tension as she makes some pretty unsettling discoveries. The practical effects, when they come into play, are surprisingly well done and add to the dark humor. The performances are interesting too, particularly Briana's growing dread as she pieces together what Susan might really be serving up. It’s not your typical horror fare, more like a twisted slice of everyday life with a side of cannibalism that stays with you.
