So, 'Losers' is quite a raw piece of cinema. Set in a pretty unremarkable town in Southern Bulgaria, you follow Koko, a teenager whose life is shadowed by his responsibilities. His parents bolted for Greece, leaving him to manage everything at home, particularly his grandmother, who’s grappling with Alzheimer's. The atmosphere is heavy, almost suffocating, but it gives a real sense of Koko's struggle. His crush on Elena, an aspiring singer, is poignant but layered with the weight of his reality. The pacing might feel slow for some, but it really lets you soak in the tension and desperation of his life. The performances are gritty, lending authenticity to the narrative – it's definitely not your typical teen love story.
Focus on character-driven narratives.Appreciate the authentic performances.Note the exploration of familial bonds and isolation.
