Lost Hearts is an interesting adaptation of M.R. James' classic ghost story, set in a moody, almost claustrophobic atmosphere. The film captures that eerie sense of isolation, with the orphaned boy's arrival at his relative's home unfolding slowly, which really ramps up the tension. The ghostly children are depicted in a rather chilling way, and their thirst for vengeance is palpable. Practical effects are used effectively, giving the manifestations a tangible, grim presence that digital just can’t replicate. The pacing can feel a bit uneven at times, but that adds to the feeling of disorientation the boy experiences. It's a solid piece for those who appreciate more traditional horror vibes and ghostly tales, though it may not suit everyone’s taste.
