Lost in Plainview is one of those thrillers that pulls you right in with its tense atmosphere and relentless pacing. You have these two law students, Melissa and Nina, who find themselves in a life-or-death chase on a desolate highway. The suspense builds as they’re pursued by a seemingly unhinged police cruiser—talk about a game of cat and mouse! The film does an interesting job of flipping the script, making the girls into the hunters as they fight back against their pursuer. The practical effects are decent for a smaller film, and the performances have this raw edge that adds to the urgency. It’s gritty and keeps you on edge, capturing that feeling of isolation and desperation quite well.
