So, this one is quite a gem from the 2009 Lucerne Festival. Abbado's conducting style is very intimate, really brings out the nuances in Mahler’s score, especially in the Rückert-Lieder. Kožená's voice just wraps around the audience, it’s mesmerizing how she connects with the music. The atmosphere is electric, you can feel the collective breath of the audience. I love how they play with the pacing; sometimes it feels like time stands still. It’s not flashy or grandiose, but there's a depth that draws you in. You definitely get a sense of the emotional landscape Mahler intended. The performance is simply a masterclass in emotion and orchestration, a real treat for music lovers.
