Make Aliens Dance is, well, quite a peculiar piece. The film dives deep into the emotional aftermath of Mazzy's disappearance, which hangs over the family like a dense fog. The recordings of her voice, haunting yet beautiful, serve as both a connection and a source of tension among the family members. Mike, the music producer, grapples with his own failures while Dan, the disillusioned sound engineer, brings a certain weariness to the mix. Then there's Murphy, the autistic brother, whose perspective adds a unique depth to the narrative. The pacing can feel contemplative, almost meandering at times, but it builds this atmosphere of longing and melancholy. The performances, while not flashy, feel genuine, adding an intimate layer to the family's struggle. It's this emotional weight that, for me, makes the film stand out.
Artistic sound design that enhances emotional storytelling.A mix of raw performances that feel organic.Themes of isolation and connection through music.
