So, 'Mark of an Angel' dives into some pretty dark waters. You've got Elsa, a woman caught in a nasty divorce, and her fixation on this young girl Lola really sets a tense tone throughout. The pacing has this creeping dread that builds up nicely; you can practically feel her desperation and obsession. The performances are interesting, especially Héloïse Cunin as Lola, who adds a layer of innocence that contrasts with Elsa's turmoil. It explores some heavy themes of motherhood and obsession, but it does so in a way that feels very human rather than melodramatic. The atmosphere is thick, almost suffocating at times, which really keeps you on edge. Not a lot of flashy effects, just raw emotion and a strong narrative.
