Max O / UW is one of those oddities that feels more like an intimate observation than a traditional documentary. The film captures a solitary man swimming in an indoor pool, and it’s all about the atmosphere. The water glistens under the fluorescent lights, the sound of splashing creates a rhythm, almost meditative. You find yourself getting lost in the simplicity of it all. Pacing is slow, almost methodical, allowing you to settle into the moment. There's this sense of isolation and freedom, as if every stroke through the water tells a story of its own. The lack of a clear narrative might throw some off, but it works to enhance the film’s reflective quality. It’s definitely a unique experience, more about feelings than facts, and that makes it stand out.
