‘Mayday’ is an interesting take on the disaster thriller genre, directed by T.J. Scott. It’s got that tense atmosphere you expect from a high-stakes scenario, but what stands out is how it plays with the idea of human resilience against overwhelming odds. The pacing is relentless; once the missile strikes, the film doesn't let up. The performances, especially from the lead cast, are decent, conveying a sense of urgency and desperation. Practical effects give it an authentic feel, though it's obvious this is a TV movie. Still, it thrives on suspense and manages to keep you invested in the survivors' struggle to land the plane. Not every film in this genre nails the blend of drama and action, but this one gives it a solid shot.
