McKenna of the Mounted is this interesting little Western from '32 directed by D. Ross Lederman. You’ve got Jones playing Tom McKenna, a disgraced Mountie who goes down a dark path, joining a gang led by Morgan. The pacing feels classic for its era, maybe a bit deliberate, but it really builds the tension nicely. There’s this palpable sense of moral conflict as he’s torn between his old life and the kind of desperation that leads him to rob the safe of his former girlfriend's father. The way they handle the duality of McKenna’s character adds an intriguing layer to the story. You can’t overlook the practical effects from that time, too—there’s a gritty realism to the action scenes that you just don’t see in a lot of modern films.
