So 'Me and the Girls' is an interesting piece, adapted from one of Noel Coward’s stories. The film is a somber exploration of a dancer reflecting on his life while facing death in a Swiss sanatorium, which already sets a pretty heavy and introspective tone. The pacing is deliberate, allowing you to really soak in George Banks’ memories and regrets. The atmosphere has this almost melancholic charm, and the performances carry a weight that feels genuine. The way it captures the struggles and joys of being a homosexual artist in that era is poignant. Not a lot of flashy effects here, just raw storytelling with a focus on character nuance, which I find refreshing in this format.
